Flora - Coming into Being
2026 Seeds - new beginning and hidden potential Plants are the pioneers of our Earth. For nearly 500 million years, they have been making our planet fertile. Humanity could survive for only a few weeks without the plant world. Plants account for 99.7 percent of all biomass on Earth. As social beings, they live in communities and use their intelligence to solve complex problems. They have at least 15 more senses than humans and interact with other plant species, animals, and us humans. All the plant-based wisdom of life is contained within the seed, germinating only when the right moment for growth arrives. We will learn more about ourselves if we approach the floral world with interest, respect, and also affection. Nanni Schiffl Deiler begins her new series of work "Flora" with photographs of seeds, seed capsules and blossoms from her own collection that has been growing mostly during travels over many years. In doing so she seeks to draw closer to the dignity of plant life and its unfailing will to live. And, in the process, to herself as well.
